Bio
Lofotr Viking Museum focuses on the Late Iron Age in Lofoten. The museum is located near the site of an original longhouse, discovered in 1981 and excavated between 1983 and 1989. The longhouse measured 83 meters in length, making it the longest ever found from that period.
The museum’s focus is on the Vikings/Norse people—how they lived, their relationship with the chieftain's seat, who they were, what tools they used, whether they were rich or poor, and the maritime lifestyle typical of the Norse in Lofoten.
