Visundr is a professional A+ level living history project, based in North Italy, founded in 2005, dedicated to the study and reconstruction of the daily life of the inhabitants of a small trading town called Birka (located in present-day Sweden) during the Viking Age, around 950–975 AD.
The group is defined by absolute commitment, major challenges, and a strong selection process. We take part almost exclusively in selected North European events and are rigorous in our adherence to historical sources and in sharing them with the public and fellow enthusiasts.
Since 2021, we have embraced this commitment to seriousness by joining a European initiative launched by several elite reenactment groups: the creation of a network of excellence united by the use of the so-called REENACTOR’S PASSPORT. This certification document — over 500 pages long — offers meticulous references for every part of our kit, and establishes a shared professional standard for collaboration with other groups, institutions, and museums.
