Dilshad Fatima is a dedicated PhD Scholar in Archaeology at the University of Allahabad, Prayagraj, with a strong academic foundation in Ancient Indian History, Culture, and Archaeology. She earned her B.A. (Hons.) from Banaras Hindu University (2015), M.A. in Archaeology from the University of Lucknow (2018), and a PG Diploma in Archaeology from Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya Institute of Archaeology, ASI, Delhi (2020). Her academic journey is supported by recognitions such as the UGC Maulana Azad National Fellowship (2020) and the Early Career Women Scholarship by the World Archaeological Congress (2025).
Her research primarily focuses on the Indus Valley Civilization, exploring aspects of bead-making, ornaments, metallurgy, figurines, and occupational diversity as cultural identifiers. She has extensive fieldwork experience, having served as a supervisor in major excavations at Rakhigarhi (Haryana), Ojiyana (Rajasthan), and Tewar (Madhya Pradesh), and participated in significant projects at Sanauli and other sites across India. She has also contributed to report writing and cultural text proofreading with the Archaeological Survey of India in Bhopal and Jabalpur Circles, including work on the “Heritage Atlas.”
Dilshad has presented numerous research papers at national and international conferences, including the 10th World Archaeological Congress in Darwin, Australia (2025), and has published scholarly works in reputed volumes and proceedings. Her publications address themes such as Harappan healthcare, metallurgy, bead-making traditions, and social organisation. Alongside research, she has teaching experience, guiding undergraduate students in Ancient History and Archaeology at the University of Allahabad.
A life member of SOSAA and the Indian Archaeological Society, she actively engages with academic networks while continuously enhancing her skills in GIS, LaTeX, and heritage studies. Beyond academics, her interests in traveling, singing, dancing, and painting reflect her creative and cultural engagement. Currently, she is advancing her doctoral research while contributing meaningfully to the field of South Asian archaeology.
