My undergraduate degree in history from St. Andrews University and my current Mlitt in Archaeology at the University of the Highlands and Islands bookend a rollercoaster life of diverse experiences in education. I am particularly interested in everything ethnoarchaeology, particularly artefacts and settings that shed light on ritual and beliefs – such as textile manufacture, dual-purpose artefacts and masks.

I spent my career in education in the UK (PGCE) working in the secondary and tertiary sector (both in- and out of the classroom). Teaching and working in educational leadership were my ‘breadwinning’ roles. My ‘other’ work, representing Canadian First Nations artists and craftspeople, supporting the development of art and science exhibitions, running an English language teaching school, as well writing children’s fiction were what ‘floated my boat’’.

I am about to embark on my dissertation and am sticking my finger in the air to see where the wind blows me next… Developing public outreach and education opportunities for folklore in combination with archaeology, ethnoarchaeology, anthropology, art and comparative religions/beliefs will definitely feature on the menu. I’m always game for an adventure…
