EXARC was present at the EADs Forum that took place in Nice, FR on the 3rd and 4th April 2025. The Forum brings together national coordinators from every European country that participates in the EADs, as well as event organisers and partners, in order to discuss the present and future of this celebration. 

On October 18, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., the second International Scientific Conference on Experimental Archaeology will take place at the “Ritums” Cultural and Folk Art Centre. The theme of the conference is “Experimental Archaeology in Latvia and the World: Traditions and Innovations.”

The international workshop “Intangible Cultural Heritage in a Museum Context. The Role of Agricultural Museums, Living History Sites and Archaeological Open-Air Museums” invites contributions from museum professionals and practitioners.

Some of you may remember EXARC member Maarten Peels' short film project from last year, The Bison’s Legs. Inspired by the cave art of Chauvet and the flutes from Hohle Fels, it is set in the Late Palaeolithic and tells the story of a shaman and his friend on a dream quest to make a new cave painting. The film is now openly available on YouTube.

Have you ever wanted to experience what life was really like in prehistory through an immersive and interactive experience? EXARC member Markus Klek shares two opportunities for an immersive prehistoric experience: The third installment of the annual ROOTS Stoneage Immersion in Spain, and a brand new Nordic Wintercamp in Sweden.

The Association for Living History, Farm and Agricultural Museums, or ALHFAM is an international Association, based in North America. There is a considerable overlap with EXARC, making them great partners in furthering our common goals, particularly in the field of live interpretation as well as skills preservation.

As some of you may know, EXARC is starting up a blog to promote your experimental archaeology projects in all their forms, whether that’s academic research, reenactment, collaborations with institutions/museums, or even informal research just for fun!

The PARTS Project invites all those interested to take part in two Experimental Archaeology Research Events (EAR1 and EAR2) taking place this summer. 

The first week (EAR1) will be in Poland, focusing on building technological traceological reference bases for wooden materials, prehistoric cords/nets, and plant processing using ground stone tools.

As EXARC members, we probably spend a lot of time thinking and fantasising about life in the past, and Diederik Pomstra is no exception. He took over 30 years of personal experience in the outdoors, knapping flint, making baskets, and tanning skins to craft a story set in the Mesolithic period.
