The European Archaeology Days (EAD) are an annual event dedicated to archaeology in all its forms. The initiative aims to raise awareness of archaeology and to introduce European audiences to its many dimensions. A wide range of events is organised to engage families, schools, students, history enthusiasts, museum visitors, and the general public, offering opportunities to explore this multifaceted discipline and Europe’s archaeological heritage.
In a broader context, the European Archaeology Days promote shared cultural heritage across Europe while respecting cultural diversity. By encouraging exchange, accessibility, and participation, the initiative contributes to strengthening connections between communities and making archaeology and culture accessible to all.
Through its partnership with the European Archaeology Days, EXARC seeks to enhance the visibility of its activities and to bring greater recognition to archaeological open-air museums and experimental archaeology centres across Europe. Archaeological open-air museums participate in the European Archaeology Days by organising dedicated activities, with around 20 EXARC members taking part each year since 2019. Through this European-wide event, members engage broader audiences, contributing to the promotion of archaeological heritage.
