After studying Prehistory at Leiden University (NL) and excavating for a couple of years in the muddy Dutch soil I turned my attention to public archaeology: how to bring the fascinating story of ancient daily life to the modern public?

With workshops, classes at schools en educational materials for museums I try to let the audience experience a bit of the past for themselves, with as many senses as possible: looking at artefacts or replicas, touching them, tasting Medieval food, smelling Roman perfumes, incense or the woodsmoke from a fire, listening to the fascinating stories about life in the past, trying out ancient crafts. And, of course, talking about it all and letting everyone contribute with their own knowledge and experiences!

Topics I'm particularly interested in are textiles, fibers, food, herbs, gardens, cosmetics and ancient hairstyles. And interesting ways of bringing these (and other) topics to the public!

I'm always open to questions and collaborations, because I believe in sharing knowledge and in the fact that there is always more to learn.
