I am an archaeologist working as Curator of Properties for Stonehenge and the West of England at English Heritage. Based in Bristol, my role covers 80 monuments in the Guardianship of the Secretary of State from Cheshire to Cornwall - including Stonehenge, Tintagel Castle, Old Sarum and Beeston Castle. Although my role involves the conservation and research of many of these sites at any one time, my current focus is at Stonehenge.

My research interests lie in the language. place-names and landscape of prehistoric Britain. I am investigating the evidence for the presence of Germanic languages and dialects through the study of English place-names for changing landscapes and monuments.

I previously worked as Education Manager for the South West Region of English Heritage, based in Bristol. Formerly I was Development Officer, then Community Engagement Officer for Drake's Place, a heritage project with Plymouth University; I was formerly a lecturer and Programme Manager for two University of Plymouth degree programmes, one in Archaeological Practice, the other in Tourism at City College Plymouth; and subsequently lectured in Heritage Management at the University of Buckingham. I have been a regular contributor to BBC radio and television.
