Dr. Dawn Adrienne Saliba is a dramatist, theatrical artist and scholar specializing in the archaeology of performative ritual, especially in Malta's Neolithic sites. Her Ph.D. from SUNY Binghamton University (USA) centered on a cultural-historicist examination of early modern drama, however her post-doctoral studies took the form of an MPhil in Classics & Archaeology from the University of Malta, where she examined proto-theatricality, liminality, and the material culture of ritual within the Hypogeum of Ħal Saflieni. Her work in the phenomenology of archaeology utilizes the performative modalities of music, movement, and speech in archaeological spaces in order to infer probable prehistoric behaviours. Dr. Saliba is also the Co-Founder of MALTA-ARCH, a collective that advocates for the preservation of archaeological heritage on the Maltese islands.
