I am an archaeologist, historian, and fiber artist with deep experience in post-disaster compliance archaeology, including creating interpretive materials. As I return my focus to experiential archaeology and living history, I am exploring sacred fiber work in pre-literate Europe.
I want to support historical open-air museums and to get more experience in living historically under a wide range of conditions. I would also like to build on my work as a deckhand on a 1790's tall ship to delve further back in maritime time.
I play with a wide range of skills: fiber processing, antler and bone shaping, copper working, clay working, traditional building materials/methods, tall-ship sailing, knotting, gathering and using material for baskets and other tools, foraging for materials and food, a little obsidian knapping, and experimenting with plant stewardship through a traditional permaculture lens.
